Big Boy Bike

SJ had a Gift Card for Toysrus to use so we went and put it to good use on Monday.
It was the 1st time he had ever been given an amount of money and been able to pick out whatever he wanted. Of course he wanted everything he touched but we had finally settled on a spider man mega blocks set, a grabber like his BFF's, an uno game and some books.
Then we hit the bike section. I had wanted to get him a big boy bike for Christmas but every time we saw one in an advertisement SJ would say Mommy tell Santa I dont want a bike like that, I don't know how to ride it.
I was a bit shocked when he spotted them and said MOMMY I WANT ONE OF THOSE so we looked at them and picked out one he almost had enough money for and let him ride it around the store. He rode like he had been riding forever.
We then had the conversation, you can either have everything in the cart or this 1 bike. To my surprise he picked the bike.
We have been on 2 bike rides so far, he likes making me run to keep up with him and honestly I like it too, it will help me lose the rest of this weight!

Time Out

I like to scrap all aspects of SJ's childhood and part of being a kid is getting into trouble. WE do timeouts with SJ and one day he was being a pill and ended up in timeout. I snapped these pictures. I think they are cute.

When SJ saw this LO he was quite upset with me he said "hey mommy you cant take pictures of me in timeout when i am sad"

Allthough the LO is simple I like it and wanted to share it.

GM Cereal Review

General Mills was kind enough to send me 4 coupons for free boxes of any GM cereal through Myblogspark.
I was in the market for a new grown-up healthy cereal so I took these coupons to my local Publix and hunted for a good tasting healthy cereal.
What I found was Total Cinnamon Toast Crunch. It reminded me of my childhood favorite Cinnamon Toast Crunch!
I was pleasently surprised on just how good it was. Ok Im not going to lie it doesnt taste exactly like the childhood favorite but it is less sugar, and whole wheat.

I also let me son pick out a GM cereal for him. He choose.
This cereal may have the word cookie in the title but the nutrition label doesnt look like that of a cookie! SJ tried them and loved them

Thanks GM for giving us to opportunity to find new cereals!

Some facts about cereal and breakfast eating in children
Did you know that ready-to-eat cereal eaters consume less fat, less cholesterol and more fiber than non-cereal eaters? Cereals also deliver important vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients, making cereal a top source of key nutrients in children´s diets.

Other cereal benefits:
  • Ready-to-eat cereals, including presweetened cereals, account for only 5% of sugar in children´s diets.
  • Ready-to-eat cereal is the No. 1 source of whole grains in a child´s diet today.
  • More frequent cereal eaters tend to have healthier body weights and lower Body Mass Index measures.
Studies also demonstrate the benefits of eating breakfast. A 1998 study showed that children who eat breakfast tend to perform better at school. Compared to children who skip breakfast, children who eat breakfast score higher on tests, are less likely to miss class or be tardy, have fewer reported discipline problems, and make fewer trips to the office.

A flying trapeeze

when SJ made his Christmas list #2 on his list right behind a yo-yo was a flying trapeze. I tried and tried to figure out what he was talking about i knew it couldn't be a true trapeze that he wanted for Christmas. Well Christmas morning came and he opened all his gifts and he looked right at me with the saddest look in his eyes and said "mommy i just don't understand why Santa didn't bring me a flying trapeze" of course this made me almost cry.

Of course he got a ton of other wonderful gifts but every few hours he would mention this flying trapeze.

So a few days go by and we go to my moms house to have a late Christmas celebration with her. Well he opens his first gift and screams A FLYING TRAPEZE JUST WHAT I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED. I don't know how he got in his head that this was a flying trapeze but we all got a good laugh out of it.

Here is my cool dude playing with his flying trapeze. :)

2010

It is hard to believe it is 2010 allready, seems like just a bit ago we were saying goodbye to the 90's. Alot has changed in my life in the last 10 years, the most important being becoming a mother. It has changed my whole outlook on everything. It makes me want to be a better person and make the world a better place to live.
2009 was one of the worst of the last decade for me. I will never forget the horrible things that happened in 09 and I pray to god i don't have to go through anything like that again.
09 also made some great memories. I was fortunate enough to take 2 Disney vacations. My wonderful son turned 4 years old.
I am looking forward to SJ starting VPK this September. I know he is going to love school!

of course with a new year comes new hopes. There are a few things I would like to accomplish in this year.
I would like to continue losing weight, i have fallen off the wagon and need to jump back on
I need to finish the drywall work in our house, i cant take the walls being half finished anymore
I need to spend more time just playing with SJ soon enough he wont want to play with me.
I would like to become more organized but honestly its not going to happen.
